The primary external element that catches the eye when observing the 2017 LaCrosse is the sporty and beautiful front grille, borrowed from the Avenir Concept. A sportier and sleeker reinterpretation of the waterfall grille of Buick dramatically changes the front look of the sedan. At first view, it is similar to that of the Avenir, but the grille of the new LaCrosse is rather different.

The horizontal trim in the new sedan sits a bit lower, whereas the thicker lip sits over the emblem. The V-shaped base is smoother, whereas the edges are sharper. The new vehicle also comes with a new Buick triple-shield. While the earlier model was featured with monochrome shields, on the new LaCrosse they are painted in silver, red and blue.

The new sedan also gets a newly carved hood, in addition to a pair of new headlights that appear very similar to that of the Avenir. They are now longer and slimmer, offering the next LaCrosse a more aggressive look. Down beneath, there is a redesigned bumper with a broad, but narrow air intake with a chrome narrow piece, running between the sides.

When comes to rear, the back fascia of the vehicle is a considerable departure from the earlier model, having a more modern and refined look. It comes equipped with a longer rear deck and the trunk lid features a cleaner design without the thick chrome trim of the earlier model. However, the retained chrome inserts around the taillights are smaller and they extend into the trunk top.

As the new LaCrosse comes with an extended wheelbase and the wheels in the front are pulled forward, the new sedan gained a new silhouette that makes it appear sleeker and longer. The shorter roofline offers a sportier look to the new sedan.
