The Volvo V90 was first introduced to the market sometime in 1996 and it was discontinued in 1998 after a two-year survival in the market. Then in 2016, the model was redesigned and it had become the flagship sedan of the Swedish international manufacturing business. Now the company has decided to improve it further for the model year 2017.
The 2017 Volvo V90 wagon will be constructed on the novel Scaleable Production Architecture platform of Volvo, which underpins previously the S90 and the XC90 SUV. This means that the 2017 model V90 will probably use the similar drivetrains as those of the S90, which in line carried over them from the XC90 SUV. It also comes with the same diesel, petrol and hybrid engines as those of its predecessor without any changes.
2017 Volvo V90 Exterior
When Volvo launched the S90, it also launched in excess of half of the design of V90, as the two sedans are indistinguishable between the B-pillars and the nose. The new Volvo V90 would come outfitted with the traditional taillights of Volvo that extend up on the tailgate. Simultaneously, the 2017 model V90 is a significant exit from its forerunner, as the automaker dropped the boxy plan, supporting a more athletic roof section with a raked back windscreen.
Even though the new V90 looks athletic and contemporary, the innovative outside styling might establish a disappointment to old-school aficionados, not to state that it may influence the trunk space.
Though the design of the rear part of the vehicle is not yet confirmed, it is expected that it would be similar to that of the XC90 to continue true to new styling lingo of Volvo. After V90 debut, very soon there will be 2017 Volvo V90 cross country version, the date is not announced.
2017 Volvo V90 Interior
Similar to the exterior, the interior design is derived from that of the 2017 Volvo S90, as well. Both the front and back passenger compartments seem to be indistinguishable in terms of equipment and styling. This means that the new wagon comes with the identical dashboard with great wood inserts and perpendicular air conditioning vents, adjoining the tablet-like touch screen, a high and sparkling center console, and an overall quality feel due to the many soft-touch surfaces and superb fit and finish. Briefly, the 2017 V90 is fairly fancy for a wagon, even when compared with brands from Mercedes-Benz and BMW.
While shoulder, leg, and headroom will linger similar for the backseat passengers, cargo space can be increased dramatically due to the cabin configuration of the vehicle. A foldable back seat will further boost the cargo space, making the new V90 not only one among the most comfortable vehicles on the market but a realistic grocery acquirer and an ideal vacation vehicle, as well.
As the architecture is based on the XC90 and S90, it is expected that the vehicle would feature two diesel engines, two gasoline engines and a hybrid engine.
The petrol range includes the T5 turbocharged engine to generate a maximum power of 254 ponies and a maximum torque of 258 pounds per foot. The next petrol variant will be a T6 supercharged engine to generate a maximum power of 316 ponies and a maximum torque of 295 pounds per foot.
When comes to diesel variants, the first diesel mill will be a D4 engine to generate a maximum power of 190 ponies and a maximum torque of 295 pounds per foot, whereas the second D5 diesel engine will generate a maximum power of 225 ponies and a maximum torque of 346 pounds per foot.
Buyers in the necessity of a greener, the most fuel-competent wagon can opt for the 2017 model V90 that comes equipped with the T8 hybrid 2017 Volvo V90 engine. This is the combination of a traditional four-banger, 2.0-liter capacity turbocharged mill and a durable 80-HP electric motor with the capacity of 60-kW. The combined power output would be 400 ponies and a combined torque would be 472 pounds per foot.
Transmission options will comprise a six-velocity manual transmission and an eight-velocity automatic transmission.
Date of release and price
The 2017 Volvo V90 release date is expected to hit the market during the concluding part of 2016 with the initial price of $ 50,000.
