About 20 years after the first Boxster was released, Porsche is working on its mid engine roadster. The company is expected to release the new generation models of Porsche 718 Boxster and 718 Boxster S. These models will be two seat convertibles that are expected o be more powerful yet more fuel-efficient.

Rumors of the 2017 Porsche 718 Boxster stated circulating since the end of 2014 when people started talking about four cylinder Porsche that would become more interesting car due to the flat four engine that is similar to those in their cars back in the 1960’s as well as in their 356 models.

When it comes to the exterior, the new Porsche 2017 models will look a lot more stylish, although it some of the older design panels remain unchanged. The 2017 Boxter will feature a modern front that has their new four LED daytime running lights and a new wider bumper design. The rear of the car will get a new grill that is placed between the taillights where the Porsche logo is located. Another eye-catching feature that comes with the new model is a wing that defines the side intakes. These wings are more pronounced and almost run into the front fender while the skits are wider. Additionally the intakes seem slightly larger while the door no longer has handle recess covers.

Inside the cabin is an all-new design that comes in a curvier design that is constructed with slightly better materials than before. The new model also features Porsche’s lasts navigation and infotainment system. Although the new dashboard remains the same size, the steering wheel of the new model has received new spokes and a new center section. The dashboard now looks more upscale and bears a closer resemblance that in their 911 models.

Other notable features includes a 110-watt Sound Package Plus, Porsche Communication Management system that features cell phone preparation and audio interfaces. The new 2017 Porsche 718 Spyder also comes with a revamped interior that is impressive. The seats are covered with natural leather that comes in a number of colors to suit the user taste and preference. The new model also comes with a Connect Plus module for access to a wide array of online services.

2017 Porsche 718 Boxster Engine

The new Porsche Boxster model will be powered by brand new four unit engines rather than the flat is the engine. These new engines were developed with improved efficiency and performance. The base model will have a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that has a capacity of producing 300 HP and 280 lb-ft of torque. This means that the new model engine has 35 HP and 74 lb-ft of torque improvement over its predecessor.

Advanced turbo charging also makes the new model to be 14 percent more efficient. Talking about performance, the base model is expected to accelerate from 0-60 MPH in just 4.5 seconds with the manual and 4.3 seconds with the PDK. The new model is also expected to have a top speed of 170 mph.

The new Porsche 718 Boxster S 2017 model will be powered by a 2.5-liter flat four engines with an ability to produce 350 HP from 1,900 rpm to 4,500 rpm and 309 lb-ft of torque. The model is expected to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 4.0 seconds, with manual on test it was 4.2 seconds with PDK.

The price and release date

The price of the base model starts from $57,050 while the 718 Boxster S retails from $69,450 including delivery. Although there is no official communication regarding the new 2017 Porsche 718 Boxster S release date, the new model will not be available for sale for at least half a year.
