The Mercedes-Benz SL-Class was the sixth-generation model in the lineup, which was introduced for the model year 2012. The model represented a rebellion over its forerunner, featuring an all-aluminum body, attaining a lightweight body, which was more frivolous than the outgoing model by 242 pounds (110 kg), in addition to having a more athletic design and more commanding engines. 2017 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Redesign, Exterior
The next generation Mercedes SL65 AMG naturally gets its external upgraded elements, similar to those of the standard SL. However, with the well-known AMG-spec body elements make it considerably more aggressive on the street. Furthermore, the headlights, the bumper, and the front grille are identical to those of the SL in terms of size and shape. The front fascia of the 2017 SL65 AMG sports numerous features that make it noticeable as the most powerful affiliate in the family of SL-Class.
The new vehicle comes with other add-ons that include a recently designed, double-blade radiator grille, which is wider at the base, a bumper grille with horizontal slats, chrome inclusions on the upper rim of the air intakes and a splitter in the front for improved aerodynamics. The front fenders and the engine hood remain unchanged, excepting the V-12 Biturbo insignias between the doors and the front wheels and the high-luster chrome additions in the side skirts. The only other prominent change to the profile is the Titanium Grey painted with a high-luster finished ten-spoke frivolous 19-inch alloy wheels in the front and 20-inch alloy wheels of the same design at the back.
Around rear, all-red taillights, the quad-exhaust configuration, and a trunk lid spoiler differentiate the new Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG 2017 from the standard SL. The diffuser is somewhat different from that of the non-AMG versions, as well, having chrome inserts between and beneath the exhaust pipes.
The 2017 model SL65 AMG will be equipped with a mechanical back-axle differential lock as a standard feature, which offers improved stability while braking at high velocities and an improved grip while accelerating speedily from a motionless start.
2017 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Interior
This time, the 2017 SL65 AMG does not get much change in its interior design, except some aesthetic tweaks. The cabin comes equipped with standard sports seats upholstered in Nappa leather with an optimized side support, whereas the three-spoke steering wheel is also covered in Nappa leather that features a mildly improved key configuration. The new Mercedes SL65 AMG 2017 will be offered with five different driving nodes to assist the driver to drive the vehicle according to his/her preferences and consistent with the conditions of different terrains. These driving modes include Comfort, Sport Plus, Sport, Race and Individual, such that each driving mode modifies a variety of engine constraints, such as engine sound and throttle response, offering a variety of driving experience to the driver behind the wheel. Among the five available driving modes, the Race driving mode turns the new SL65 into a violent beast, whereas the Comfort driving mode offers a more comfortable driving experience to the driver with premature gear changes.
Much similar to the non-AMG SL models, the 2017 SL65 AMG model comes equipped with a variety of the most up-to-date active and passive safety features and systems intended to keep the vehicle and its occupants safe. Even though the next gen SL65 AMG received copious improvements in its external and internal styling, the engine section comes with the same configuration, similar to that of the outgoing model. As a result, it comes equipped with the same V12 power plant with the same capacity of 6.0 liters that was used to power the outgoing model. This 2017 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG engine produces the same power of 621 ponies at 5,500 RPM and the same torque output of 738 pounds per foot at 2,300-4,300 RPM. This power plant also offers improved acceleration to the new SL65 AMG that makes it attain the 60 mph speed from the stationary mode in less than 3.9 seconds and helps it to attain the maximum velocity of 186 mph.
The 2017 model will be offered with the same mildly tuned version of the seven-velocity double-clutch transmission system. On the other hand, the non-AMG models will be offered with a new nine-velocity automatic transmission system of Mercedes-Benz. It is claimed by the automaker that the seven-velocity double-clutch transmission system is now even more receptive, particularly in Sport Plus driving mode and in the Manual driving mode because of the optimized power plant and the transmission software. In addition, the innovative aluminum shift paddles send out the commands from the driver to transform the gear even quicker, perking up both dynamics and feel.
Base cost and the date of release
Mercedes-Benz has not yet confirmed the base cost and the date of release of its 2017 model SL65 AMG. Regarding pricing, the base price of the new SL65 AMG will definitely be more than that of the present version, which is now being sold at $217,550.
