McLaren unveiled the 2017 McLaren 675 LT Spider, the customized version of the 650S Spider at the 2015 Auto Show in Geneva. The 2017 model is a bit longer than the 650S, which comes with revised aerodynamics, and outfitted with a more influential engine. Even though the original 675 LT Spider was not released in a drop-top pattern, the McLaren had gone ahead and had cut the roof off the 675LT with the intention of giving its enthusiasts a more exclusive and powerful option to the already exciting 650S Spider. The new 675LT Spider is the seventh affiliate of the Super Series family, which already consists of the 625C, 650S, 650S Le Mans, and the 650S GT3.
2017 McLaren 675 LT Spider Exterior
The external design is similar to that of its coupe counterpart, but it differs in terms of roof and engine hood design. Consequently, it benefits from all the cool external features that make the new 675LT unique, as well as the lengthened doorsills, a smaller air intake just beneath the air intake of the main engine. The energetic Longtail airbrake is 50 % larger than that of the 650S Spider.
Unlike its coupe counterpart, which has a big window between the deck and the roof, 2017 675 LT Spider comes with a smaller window through which the engine is partially visible. As a standard external feature, the new vehicle would ride on a set of ten-spoke frivolous alloy wheels with the diameter of 19 inches in the front and 20-inch diameter wheels at the back. The wheels are enfolded in P Zero Trofeo R tires specially designed for the new 675LT. Moreover, buyers can opt for the Super-Lightweight 20-spoke wheels, in either Diamond Cut or Liquid Metal finish. The Diamond Cut finished wheel will also be available with the five-spoke pattern that was first introduced in the coupe model.
2017 675 LT Spider will be constructed with the external dimension of 178.97″ (L) x 82.48″ (W) x 46.92″ (H), with the curb weight of 2800 pounds (approx 1273 kg), with the weight distribution of 42 % to the front and 58 % to the back.
2017 McLaren 675 LT Spider interior does not experience much change when compared to those of its coupe associate. It comes with the same internal features of its coupe sibling, except for a key that activates the redesigned rear windscreen. Buyers can expect the new vehicle with the similar racing seats wrapped in leather and Alcantara, a slender, race-motivated center stack, and even-bottomed guiding wheel with carbon fiber spokes. Routinely, McLaren will provide an extensive array of customizing choices that will comprise double-tone upholstery designs, contrast sewing, and additional carbon fiber.
2017 McLaren 675 LT Spider Engine, 0-60
The McLaren 675 Spider comes equipped with the same engine as that of the 675 LT Coupe. As a result, it will be powered by a V8 engine with the displacement of 3.8 liters. This will be finely tuned to produce the highest power of 666 ponies at 7,100 RPM and the highest torque of 516 lbs per foot at 5,000-6,500 RPM. These powertrain figures are 25 ponies and 16 lbs per foot more than those of the 650S model. The engine emits 275g/km of CO2 gas and it is paired with a seven-velocity speed, double-clutch automatic gearbox.
The engine also offers better acceleration that makes it to attain the 62 mph speed from the static mode in 2.9 seconds and to acquire the maximum velocity of 203 mph, which is 2 mph lower than that of the 650S model.
Price and the date of release
The 2017 McLaren 675 LT Spider release date will be the concluding part of 2016. The new vehicle will be available at an initial price of $ 285,450.
