Hyundai is endeavoring something that no other auto manufacturer has done productively to challenge Toyota in the devoted-hybrid market. The plan is to flank the revamped Toyota Prius with the Ioniq from Hyundai and the lately-unveiled 2017 Kia Niro Hybrid, from its sister product Kia.
While the Ioniq assumes the conventional Prius as a less fulsome hatchback, the Kia Niro hits the Prius V by means of its crossover styling. Dimension-wise, the 2017 model Kia Niro is somewhat shorter than the standard Prius and fairly a bit smaller than the Prius V, but it is taller by two inches and features an SUV-like silhouette.

The main aim of the South Korean automaker, Kia with the Niro is to offer a vehicle that does not behave or resemble a distinctive gas-electric automobile, and generate a new segment by combining the hybrid competence with a body that has the crossover attributes. The upshot is what the Korean auto manufacturer is referring to as a hybrid utility automobile. 2017 Niro is derived from a new devoted eco-car platform, which will as well, underpin a Toyota Prius-fighting hatchback, the future Hyundai Ioniq.
The structural design employs high-strength steel in important areas, such as the A-pillar and B-pillar and roof rails, offering a structure, which is both strong and frivolous. Altogether, 53 % of the bones of the new model Niro Hybrid are completed from refined high-strength steel.
2017 Kia Niro Interior
The new Kia Niro Hybrid 2017 is just as anesthetize on the inside, and it shows the stylish, functional design. The cargo section in the cabin is slightly bigger than that of the Toyota Prius, and it presents a low, flat ground with fold-down back seats.
The automaker plans to provide the 2017 model Niro Hybrid with a complete complement of the state-of-the-art driver supports, lane-departure warning and including blind-spot warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic emergency braking. New for the 2017 model Niro is an available scheme, known as the Eco-DAS, instead of the Driver Assistance System, which exercises the navigation system to view the topographical information for the designed route.
The Eco-DAS features two smart features, such as Coasting Guide and Predictive Energy Control. The Coasting Guide educates the driver on at what time to coast and what time to brake, whereas the Predictive Energy makes knowledgeable decisions regarding when to drag power from the battery and what time to recharge it. It is inspiring to see Kia making the most of the skill of the car to sense its situation with the intention of improving the efficiency.
2017 Kia Hybrid is going to be powered by a recently-developed front-wheel-drive hybrid engine. This will be a petrol operated, four-cylinder engine with the displacement of 1.6 liters to offer the new hybrid vehicle the essential power of 103 ponies. 2017 Kia Niro hybrid engine is combined with a durable 43-hp electric motor to generate the total power of 146 ponies and a total torque of 195 lbs per foot. The electric motor is positioned between the engine and its six-velocity dual-clutch mechanical transmission. The electric motor will be capable of moving the car at low velocities solely on the electric power.
Though the powertrain figures are not yet revealed by Kia, it is expected that the 2017 model Kia Niro Hybrid would offer a combined mileage of 50 mpg, which is 2 mpg less than that of the 2016 model Toyota Prius. Niro accelerate from 0-60 for about 10 sec and the top speed is 125 mph.
