BMW first introduced its Z4 model during 2009, and it has not received any update since then. Most people thought that the model would be discontinued, but BMW already announced a joint venture with Toyota in which both would construct a new platform for the Z4 convertible with the rear-wheel drive mode for the model year 2017. It is expected that the 2017 BMW Z4 roadster would be constructed with this new platform and it would share it with the future Toyota Supra. The platform is expected to be stronger, more frivolous and easier to create than the earlier one and due to materials, such as aluminum or carbon fiber composites, it will definitely be one among the most sophisticated in the World.
2017 BMW Z4 Exterior
The external design of the new BMW Z4 2017 is going to be novel, but at the same time recognizable for all those individuals who already owned a BMW sedan. The design elements of the front fascia of the 2017 Z4 is probably to be borrowed from the new Z3 and Z4 Series sedans, whereas its back part as well as the silhouette will be all fresh. The other external elements of the new vehicle would be the same as that of the outgoing model because the old elongated hood and the same small back end provide the new Z4 with a nice sports sedan stance. It is also expected to be equipped with the upgraded external elements, designed with the latest technologies. These include the leaser headlamps and active aerodynamics that would increase the charm of the front end.
On the other hand, the 2017 BMW Z4 interior is expected to come with a comfortable and calm cabin, which is going to assume a new approach to what an immense interior signifies. Actually, it would most likely to adopt a more minimalistic interior style that will allow the driver to focus on the way the vehicle feels. However, the new vehicle will carry on to present things, such as a head-up exhibit that will provide the driver of the car with all the required information. The cabin of the new vehicle is also expected to be equipped with a huge monitor on its center console, which would function as the control center.
2017 BMW Z4 Engine
The engines that are going to be equipped in the next gen BMW Z4 would be either new or improved ones from the other BMW sedans. It appears that the base model would be equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 engine, but this will be built up from scratch for it and for the Toyota Supra. This engine is fine-tuned to make it capable of producing a maximum power of 250 HP and an utmost torque of 290 lbs per foot.
The sDrive30i model of the new Z4 will also be equipped with the same engine, rather than the usual six-cylinder, 3.0-liter engine. However, during this application, the undersized 2.0-liter version could produce a maximum power of 350 HP and more than 340 lbs per foot of torque that is actually more than the engine in the earlier model.
Both higher end models of the, such as the M and the xDrive35 are going to be equipped with a six-cylinder engine with a capacity of 3.0 liters. This engine will include one or two turbochargers to bring the maximum power output of 390 HP horsepower for the xDrive35model and maximum of 440 HP power to the M model of Z4.
The 2017 model Z4 comes equipped with an innovative seven-rated dual-clutch transmission and it will be combined either with the rear-wheel drive model or with the all wheel drive model, according to the model of option.
