For quite a short time, the BMW product has managed to create a name for itself because of the solid status it has gained in manufacturing quality vehicles. It has been capable of surviving tough times due to its high-tech comfortable features and technologies. BMW commenced manufacturing the X series models sometimes back with the major aim of offering the car fanatics with a more consistent Sports Utility Vehicle that is more competent in terms of performance and fuel consumption. So the 2017 BMW X2 is also highly expected to offer the same performance and fuel competence. It is expected to be unveiled at the upcoming Motor Show in Geneva where the new sedan will be offered as a concept. Rumors going around the motor scene propose that the 2017 X2 will most likely hit worldwide markets shortly, perhaps sometime in 2018.
2017 BMW X2 Redesign, Facelift
In the new 2017 BMW X2, there is nothing novel when it comes to the external styling, it is expected to come with the same exterior design of the outgoing model, meaning it would be constructed on the same UKL platform. The new vehicle would come with the same front fascia, which is very similar to that of any sedan that came from German manufacturer’s assembly lines during the last 25 years. This means that the new X2 would get the same split grille with the BMW logo, primarily, along with the open-mouth lower air intake and narrow angular headlights to complete the difference. Just similar to its slightly shorter sibling, it would come in both 3-door and 5-door body styles.
The back part of the new X2 is not going to get any major tweaks that is expected to have a tailgate, similar to that of a coupe, with a few modern touches around the borders. Besides the standard model, BMW is going to release its 2017 X2 with a Sport model, which will be derived from the similar platform as that of the standard version. However, it is expected to come with the 3-door body style.
New BMW X2 2017 Interior, Changes
There is still no specific information regarding the 2017 BMW X2 interior design. However, it is obvious what a buyer could expect from a vehicle of its class. Though the new X2 might be a crossover, buyers could not expect a big cabin with the new vehicle and it is designed to accommodate less travelers only. However, the cabin of the new vehicle would be equipped with essential materials similar to those in BMW X1 and BMW X3, but they are expected to be between these two models, meaning a blend of interior elements of X1 and X3.
It would begin with Sansatec upholstery, but the higher end models would get leather-upholstered seats. Additionally, grey matte border will most probably be the admission-level option, whereas the sophisticated models would receive a few natural wood accents. Furthermore, the Sport model would get Alcantara leather upholstered seats and aluminum pronunciations. This summarizes the level of interior modifications in the new X2, whereas the list of interior feature remains unknown.
The new BMW X2 is not just SUV or a crossover, but BMW calls it a Sport Activity Coupe. In addition to a four-cylinder engine, it is expected to be equipped with a three-cylinder engine, as well. Regarding diesel engine, it is expected that the new vehicle would come equipped with a 1.5-liter engine, whereas other diesel alternative would be a four-cylinder, 2.0-liter engine to get the maximum power and torque of 150 horsepower and 330 lbs per foot respectively.
Regarding gasoline engines, the option will likely to start from a 1.5-liter turbo four engine, but it is expected that a four-cylinder 2.0-liter will be equipped to get the maximum power of 231 HP and an utmost twist of 350 lbs per foot. A 2.0-liter turbo four engine would also most likely power the new X2 to get a maximum power output and torque.
It appears that it will be huge enough to accept novel UKL1 platform, meaning that the rear-wheel drive of BMW X1 will not move the slightly bigger X2. Instead, the compact crossover will be offered with either the front-wheel drive mode or the all-wheel drive mode and it would keep the in-house eight-paced Steptronic mechanical transmission.
Price and the release date
The 2017 BMW X2 release date during the early part of 2018 with the base price of $34,000, and the price would reach the $50,000 mark when it is completely equipped.
