The Bentley Mulsanne was first introduced to the market by the renowned British auto manufacturer, Bentley in 2010. The model was released as a substitute to the Bentley Arnage, and at present, the model has received its mid-cycle revision for the model year 2017. Following months of gossip and camouflaged models spotted in October 2015. It is now confirmed by the automaker that the 2017 Bentley Mulsanne will be available for sale as a 2017-model year vehicle shortly.
Naturally, the British automaker did not interfere much with the design of the Mulsanne. The British company is recognized for maintaining a product around for over a decade and including some updates periodically. This is precisely what happened with the current Bentley Mulsanne, but to the credit of Bentley, the facelift delivers more changes to the exterior of the 2017 Bentley sedan than expected.
2017 Bentley Mulsanne Changes, Exterior
Although newMulsanne gets an update after five years, it comes with the same daring front fascia. However, according to the company policy, there may be some minor tweaks in the external elements. Accordingly, the new Mulsanne comes equipped with a new front bumper and grille. The major change in the front part is that the grille assumes the width of 3.1 inches and it is designed with stainless steel perpendicular slats above the matrix mesh, seen on the earlier Mulsanne. This innovative grille pays respect to the earlier Bentley models, including the R-Type Continental and the Embiricos.
Positioned on both sides of the grille are a couple of innovative all-LED headlights that have sophisticated adaptive technology with ray patterns that adjust to driving conditions automatically. The external lamps have also been modernized and lifted in the fender so that their bases are in order with the main headlights. The single-piece front bumper features a revamped grille part with B-shaped components on the sides and a middle unit that imitates the major grille. While the side openings have matrix grille outlines, the one in the center features the perpendicular slats of the upper grille, as well.
The notable change in the sides of the new vehicle is the fresh B-shaped wing aperture integrated into the lower part of the fender. The window border seems to be completed in the brighter chrome, similar to that on the front grille.
At the back, the redesigned next generation Bentley Mulsanne comes equipped with fresh taillights and a meekly redesigned one-inch wider bumper at the lower corners. The taillights feature a novel B-shaped outline with two major lights rather than three found in the outgoing model. The rear bumper no longer has a bulge beneath the trunk lid.
The new Mulsanne comes with 20-inch alloy wheels as standard and 21-inch alloy wheels as an option. Curb weight is 6,000 pounds.
2017 Bentley Mulsanne Interior
As the interior design remains unchanged, it looks identical to that of its predecessor. Buyers will get the similar dashboard, enclosed in acres of leather and wood. It also comes equipped with the same four-spoke steering wheel with incorporated controls, the broad center stack, and the dual-tone door boards with upper wood sections. New interior features comprise a maximum of 13 hand-chosen wood veneers, vivid-polished stainless steel, and distinctive glass switchgear.
The comfortable seats inside the cabin come in two different new styles, such as fluted or quilted. Furthermore, consumers will be able to choose between 24 hide shades and one or two dual-tone finishes. The technical section of the new Bentley Mulsanne 2017 comes with many updates that include:
Fresh infotainment system, with modernized navigation, acoustic system, and connectivity.
Front seats with a 10.2-inch Entertainment Tablets incorporated into their backs.
Wi-Fi, 4G and Bluetooth for Android devices to use apps, such as Google Play, Skype, and Spotify.
20-speaker, 20-channel premium sound system.
The new Mulsanne 2017 comes with an extended wheelbase length of 9.8 inches that offers a more interior space.
The 2017 Mulsanne would get its essential power and torque from a V8 engine with the displacement of 6.75 liters, which was used by the earlier model. As a result, the engine offers the same power of 505 ponies and same torque of 752 pounds per foot. The engine will be combined with the same eight-velocity ZF mechanical transmission to send the power to the wheels. There is no change in the acceleration figures either, it makes the new vehicle attain the 60 mph speed from the start in 5.1 seconds, and offer the same maximum velocity of 184 mph/296 km/h. The 2017 Bentley Mulsanne engine releases only 342 g/km of CO2 emissions and offers the combined mileage of 19.3 mpg.
Date of release and price
The 2017 Bentley Mulsanne release date is expected to be the last quarter of 2016 with the starting price of $ 300,000 without options.
