The 2017 Audi S4 Avant is the station wagon version of the most recent generation of the Audi S4, which was revealed at the 2015 Auto Show in Frankfurt in the sedan form. Adopting all of the features of the standard A4, such as frivolous construction, an electronic instrument cluster and perfect build quality, including a powerful engine makes the S4 Avant an enticing package. Unfortunately, the 2017 model will be available only in Europe and not in the United States.
The model debuts at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show in Geneva and it is identical to its sedan counterpart, but it features a more practical body. Similar to the owners of the A4 Avant, the owners of S4 Avant would get their new vehicle with vast storage space. The storage compartment comes with anodized aluminum roof rails, a powered cover that allows the back-seat passengers to hide anything quickly. It also comes with an electrically regulated tailgate for trouble-free access to the wagon.
2017 Audi S4 Avant Changes, Exterior
The 2017 S4 Avant will be constructed on the frivolous MLB Evo platform that reduces the curb weight of the vehicle to 3,693 pounds (approx 1679 kg). Although this is 100 pounds (approx 45 kg) heavier than its sedan associate, it is 165 pounds (75 kg) lighter than its predecessor.
The 2017 Audi wagon handles all kinds of corners, such as on a mountain pass or on a racetrack with self-confidence. For speedy motorway driving, the new wagon features inspiring straight-line constancy. This performance is down to the recently developed suspension. The new vehicle comes equipped with a five-link suspension in the front and at the back.
The rear axle accurately separates the transverse and longitudinal forces, thus ensuring optimal handling in all driving conditions. It comes equipped with the lightweight electromechanical power steering as standard and the variable velocity-dependent dynamic steering as an option. The new vehicle comes equipped with influential, stable brakes on the large wheels.
The 2017 S4 Avant will be offered with a set of 5-double-spoke star design alloy wheels with the diameter of 18 inches as standard, wearing 245/40 sized tires, and 19-inch alloy wheels will be offered as an option.
Some of the optional external elements available with the 2017 Avant include Matrix LED headlamps, head-up exhibit, and sensor-controlled tailgate.
2017 Audi S4 Avant Interior
The cabin will be spacious to accommodate five passengers in a comfortable way. The audio comfort sets novel standards in the class, whereas the build quality is at an extremely high level. The new S4 Avant comes with the cargo volume of 17.8 cubic feet and this can be increased to 53.3 cubic feet by folding the back seats.
Similar to its sedan counterpart, the 2017 model S4 Avant comes with safety and driver support systems that include:
Active Lane Assist.
Front and back airbags.
Adaptive Cruise Control.
Traffic Jam Assist.
Cross Traffic Assist.
Collision Avoidance Assist.
A camera-derived traffic sign identification system refines the safety package.
The next generation S4 Avant comes equipped with the same engine as that of its S4 sedan equivalent. As a result, it comes equipped with a new V6 engine with single turbocharger and with the displacement of 3.0 liters. This direct-injected engine will be capable of producing the utmost power of 354 ponies and the utmost torque of 369 pounds per foot.
The 2017 Audi S4 Avant engine will be mated to the only available eight-velocity automatic transmission, meaning the 2017 S4 Avant will not be offered with any optional transmission systems. The vehicle will be offered with the four-wheel drive system as standard, and buyers can improve this system with the Sports Differential of Audi as an option. This allows the drive torque to be divided between the back wheels and between the axles.
The new model through this engine attains the velocity of 62 mph / 100 km/h from the start in 4.9 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds slower than its sedan counterpart and 0.2 seconds quicker than the outgoing wagon. The maximum velocity is 155 mph. The fuel consumption of the vehicle is 38 mpg or 7.4 liters per 100 km.
Base price and the date of release
The 2017 Audi S4 Avant release date in Europe is estimated to be summer 2016. The starting price of the new vehicle will be more than that of its predecessor because the automatic gearbox has been offered as a standard feature. As a result, the price would go up to €61,150 ($67,405).
