Audi, the leading German automobile manufacturing giant, entered the market of sport utility vehicles in 2005 with the introduction of its Q7 model, and after three years, it launched the next SUV, the Q5. The crossover was constructed to embark upon the successful Mercedes-Benz GLK and the BMW X3. It took the German manufacturer additional four years to bring in the 2014 model Audi SQ5 and introduced it to the United States market with a V6, supercharged engine.
With the 2017 Audi Q5, which is the second generation vehicle in the series, is underway. It seems the automaker is already seriously working on a revamped performance model of the current Q5, which is estimated to be released to the public shortly before the end of 2016.
2017 Audi Q5 Changes, Exterior
The next-generation Audi Q5 will be constructed on the MLB platform that will be shared with the 2016 model Audi Q7 and with the 2016 model Audi A4. Although the external styling is not yet revealed completely by Audi, according to the reliable sources of the company, it is expected that the design language of the vehicle will be based on that of the novel A4 and Q7. It is safe to take for granted that the SQ5 will have the same cues.
Specifically, the overall size and shape will mostly remain unchanged, and come with the same as those of its predecessor. However, both the front and back fascias will have more angular taillights and headlights, sharper lines and slightly revised front and rear bumpers.
It is expected that the second-generation Q5 will use more aggressive aprons, as well, than the standard crossover, with honeycomb grilles, enlarged air vents, chrome inserts, and a bigger back diffuser and exhaust vents. It is expected that the new model Q5 will not mimic the bigger Q7 in resembling a wagon on stilts.
2017 Audi Q5 Interior
Both the new 2016 Audi A4 and 2016 Audi Q7 come in handy here, because it is expected to come with the sane interior of those models. However, there may be some minor tweaks in some internal elements according to the taste of the modern day buyers. The dashboard in the outgoing model will be restored with a cleaner unit with an incessant air-vent narrow piece, and it extends from the instrument cluster to the passenger traveler door. A wider center console, cleaner center stack and a new-fangled steering wheel with revised keys are on the table, as well, in addition to a revamped instrument cluster.
There will also be a bigger, self-supporting exhibit for the infotainment system and a new-fangled air conditioning unit with fewer keys and controls. All these innovative features will be weathered with more athletic add-ons, like aluminum inserts on the center console and stack, sports seats and aluminum shift paddles. If the current Q5 is any sign, the 2017 model Q5 is also possible to have a black inner as standard. Similarly, the new seats would be covered in a combination of Alcantara and Nappa leather.
