Audi, the well-known German auto manufacturer, unveiled the 2017 Audi A4 Allroad Quattro at the 2016 Auto Show in Detroit. This next-generation vehicle delivers a redesigned drivetrain, modified suspension, and even more interior and exterior features for the occasional outing into the uneven stuff, making it a real substitute in the ocean of crossover utility vehicles. Initially, Audi introduced the A4 Allroad model to the market in 2009, since then, the philosophy of taking the style and the familiarity of a wagon and infusing with the greatest functionality has not changed.
To that extreme, Audi starts with a mock-up reserved for non-U.S. consumers, the A4 Avant and adds innovative styling cues and beefier hard pieces. The outcome is something that keeps the trouble-free-driving, good-appearing wagon stuff, but adds a bit extra for ski runs or crossing the filth path to that unseen trailhead.
2017 Audi A4 Allroad Changes, Exterior
The external look is similar to that of the A4 Avant. However in terms of dimensions, the new vehicle is slightly taller and longer than the Avant, assuming the outside dimensions of 15.6’ (L) x 6.0’ (W) x 4.9’ (H). However, both vehicles have the same width of 6 feet and the wheelbase length of 9.2 feet.
At the corners of the new vehicle there are puffed-up fenders, with the unpainted matte grey finish, just similar to the earlier Allroad versions, offering buyers an option to paint the corners complementing the body color. This time, Audi releases its new A4 Allroad Quattro with 14 body colors, including:
Besides coming with roof rails as standard, underbody safety is in position in the front, and there is a rear diffuser, both come with the selenite silver finish.
The new A4 Allroad 2017 comes with a distinctive front fascia that comes outfitted with a redesigned bumper and modified air intakes. There is also a single-frame grille, holding the Audi badge, but it comes with perpendicular chrome slats, instead of the horizontal ones found in the A4 Avant.
The headlights are similar to those of the non-Allroad versions, incorporated daytime running lights and turn signals, including a Xenon illumination element as standard. However, LEDs with dynamic back turn signals and Matrix LEDs with dynamic turn front and rear signals are offered as an option.
Around the back, the new vehicle comes with an innovative roof spoiler, while a range of “allroad” emblems. New Audi A4 Allroad Quattro Diesel versions come with a double exhaust outlet, installed in a single place, whereas petrol versions get two alienated exhaust pipes.
2017 Audi A4 Allroad Quattro Interior
The interior would feature the same styling as that of its wagon and sedan siblings. However, it comes with the cargo capacity of 17.8 cubic feet and this can be amplified to 53.3 cubic feet by folding the back seats. Layout, colors and materials are all much a carryover, like is the three-spoke multipurpose steering wheel, central dash display, and hefty digital instrument cluster.
The new Audi A4 Allroad 2017 also comes with the standard latest technology features, such as a convenience key, a seven-inch MMI monitor with rotary switch operation and Bluetooth connectivity. The optional features include a bigger 8.3-inch exhibit, a heads-up exhibit, and a 12.3-inch monitor with Audi implicit cockpit. The rear passengers will get an Audi tablet for amusement purposes.
Other optional entertainment features include a Bang & Olufsen 19-speaker stereo arrangement outfitted with the 3-D sound, luxurious automatic air conditioning and an inside lighting package that provides 30 diverse shades of non-grey ambient illumination. Connectivity comes through the 4G LTE as standard, and contains roadside support, Smartphone calendar incorporation, status reports, remote function control and media streaming.
The next gen A4 will be powered by an Inline-4 petrol engine with the displacement of 2.0 liters. This 2017 Audi A4 Allroad engine is capable of producing 252 ponies of maximum power and 273 pounds of maximum torque. These powertrain figures are 53 ponies and 15 pound-feet more than those of the current model. The engine makes the new vehicle accelerate to a speed of 60 mph from the static mode in 6.1 seconds with the maximum velocity of 153 mph and a combined mileage of 37 mpg.
The new Audi Allroad diesel will be powered with three different TDI engines.
The first diesel engine will be a four-cylinder mill with the displacement of 2.0 liters that comes with two states of tuning. The first tuned engine offers the maximum power and torque of 163 ponies and 295 pounds per foot respectively, whereas the second tuned mill offers the maximum power and torque of 190 ponies and 295 pounds per foot respectively. Acceleration through this engine from 0-60 mph would be 7.8 seconds with the maximum velocity of 137 mph.
The next TDI engine will be a six-cylinder mill with the displacement of 3.0 liters that also comes with two states of tuning. The first tuned engine offers the maximum power and torque of 218 ponies and 295 pounds per foot respectively, whereas the second tuned mill offers the maximum power and torque of 272 ponies and 443 pounds per foot respectively. Acceleration through this engine from 0-60 mph would be 5.5 seconds with the combined mileage of 44 mpg.
The third and the last 2017 Audi A4 Allroad TDI engine will be 2.0-liter capacity mill, which is competent to generate 150 ponies of maximum power and 236 pounds per foot of maximum torque. This engine will be equipped after the launch of the new model A4 Allroad Quattro.
All engines will be paired with a seven-velocity S Tronic transmission as standard, whereas a six-velocity manual transmission and a revamped eight-velocity Tiptronic transmission will be offered as an option. It comes with a maximum towing capacity of 4,630 pounds (approx 2105 kg).
