With two sport utility vehicles and three sedans to offer, Acura, the luxury automobile division of the leading auto manufacturer in Japan, Honda, has been struggling to maintain with the other two Japanese top brands, such as Infiniti and Lexus, created exclusively for the American market. The reality that Acura dedicated to a rather insipid company design, restricted body styles, and a couple of powertrains did not help either.
However, that may change shortly because the brand just foretasted its next design lingo with a bold appearing concept sedan, known as the at the 2017 Acura Precision Concept at the 2016 Auto Show in Detroit. The new concept sedan portrays a low-slung, athletic sedan with a fastback-like top and has styling cues that have not been seen on any Acura production sedan previously.
2017 Acura Precision Concept Exterior
Much similar to any concept sedan constructed to explore fresh and demanding ideas, the Acura Precision has somewhat an innovative outside look, particularly among other Acura models. The front fascia of the sedan makes up for the most hostile Acura, mostly because of the gigantic, sharp grille, known as the diamond pentagon grille, and the squinty, LED headlights that extend all the way to the wheel arcs. Both the apron and the engine hood feature sharp lines that emerge to be a radical elucidation of the existing design lingo of the brand.
The approach is fairly radical around the back part of the 2017 Concept, as well. It comes outfitted with a pair of slimmer taillights, incorporated into the fenders and the carved edges of the fascia. Down underneath, there is an athletic bumper with sharper prompts and huge exhaust outlets, which not only have been driven well on the way to the wheels, but they also feature a distinctive design that rather complements that of the tail lamps. The new concept sedan will sprint on a set of gigantic, elaborate, five-spoke, 22-inch wheels. The 2017 Precision Concept comes with the external dimension of 204” (L) x 84” (W) x 52” (H), with the wheelbase length of 122 Inches.
2017 Acura Precision Concept Interior
The interior get some dramatic changes, with all types of innovative designs. These range from a dual-layered dashboard to balanced back seats. This time, Acura has not equipped the dashboard with a conventional instrument cluster, but in its place, the automaker has chosen a tablet-like touch monitor, which appears to float just on top of the steering wheel column. Similarly, the main exhibit has been replaced with a big monitor, which is roughly half the length of the dashboard and sits over the center stack. The center stack is also far from traditional, featuring a slim exhibit and three keys for Drive, Reverse and Park.
Nearly every inside surface of the new concept sedan is covered with leather, either white shade for the center console, lower dashboard and seat backs or a reddish shade of chocolate for the seating surfaces, upper dashboard and steering wheel. The cabin of the new concept car is also packed with lots of premium, real wood of three diverse types on the middle console, dashboard and door panels. Other internal design highlights comprise a sports navigation wheel with paddle shifters, white contrast sewing for the dark leather surfaces and incorporated Dynamics System controls, and a head-up exhibit.
As Acura has not yet revealed the engine options for its 2017 Precision Concept, it is estimated that it would come outfitted with a V6, traditional engine with the displacement of 3.5 liters and a hybrid engine, borrowed from the RLX Sport Hybrid. This combination offers the new Concept the essential power of 377 horses and the power will be extended to all the wheels. This would make the new Precision Concept considerably faster due to the advanced technology.
Another optional engine that would power the new Concept car is the detuned hybrid engine, recovered from the novel Acura NSX, which would offer the new vehicle the utmost power of 572 ponies with the combination of a traditional engine and three electric motors. The new Acura Precision Concept 2017 will presumably persist only as a concept mock-up, but it is estimated that the forthcoming models will be deeply derived from it and will be released with negligible tweaks in their overall design.
