The 2016 Volkswagen Passat Alltrack is a full sized family wagon manufactured by Volkswagen. The first ever Passat was introduced in 1973 (talk about old, huh?) making the new update be part of the eight generation of design line-up. The Volkswagen Passat was names as “European Car of the Year for 2015”.

The exterior has been upgraded and now has many new features (mostly made to the rear). The bumper for is completely redesigned, all new tail lamps and a trapezoidal exhaust trim. Other features are the addition of fog lamps to the front, the side mirror are housed in “matt chrome” and an “Alltrack” logo on the radiator’s grille. The wheels are 17 inch in size where as the option of 18 and 19 inch wheels are also available.

The cabin of the new Passat has been tweaked too. The first notable change will be the stainless door sills embossed with “Alltrack” letters. The seats can be customized with many options like a massage system, seat climate control and 14 way adjustments. The standard is Alcantara Fabric upholstery with “7 summits” décor on the centre panels. The air vents have been upgraded to a “Tracks” design. The centre stack also has a mobile coupling box which connects the phone to the external vehicle aerial. The box lid also has”Alltrack” embossed on it.

The new Volkswagen Passat also has the new “Application Connect”, “Android Car (Google)” and “Vehicle Play (Apple)” features. The infotainment line-up features 5 different variations; 5 inch Composition touch display, 5 inch Composition color display, 6.5 inch Composition Media display, 6.5 inch Discover Media and 8 inch Discover Pro media navigation display.

Engine, Specs, horsepower

The 2016 Volkswagen Passat engine is equipped with a 1.4 liter Double Overhead Cam V6 four cylinder motor with six-speed automatic transmission as a standard. Well this describes the base engine out of the 5 other drive train options placed by Volkswagen. The latter are 2 gasoline powered engines which produce 148 horsepower and 217 horsepower. The three diesel powered 2.0 turbodiesel TDI engines, they have the capability to produce 148, 137 and 237 horsepower. The torque generated will be 184 lb.ft. Dual gear clutch is available with the heavier power degrees. The all-new Passat was introduced at the Geneva motor show and was revealed to have 4MOTION all wheel drive. Volkswagen Passat 2016 accelerate from 0-60 mph for 8 seconds with top speed of 155 mph.

Release Date and Price

There is no confirmed release date announced for new Passat Alltrack, but as per news it will be available for buyers at the end of this year. While 2016 Volkswagen Passat price will be by some rumors about $ 35,000. Americans don’t like to buy wagons, but somehow Volkswagen has cracked that code, making their Passat second most popular among-st the U.S. buyers (even though it is a wagon).
