The pickup will come refreshed on the market and it will get a new body platform which will certanly contribute to a better appearance of the vehicle. The model will come with the new aluminum body platform which will contribute to lower vehicle weight, improved aerodynamic features and fuel economy.
At the front, it seems that the Canyon borrows styling cues from the Sierra, like its C-shaped LED daytime running lights, bold radiator grille and rectangular project beam headlights. Thanks to pronounced wheel arches the Canyon’s rugged looks is emphasized.
This model comes in three different body styles: a crew cab with a five-foot bed, an extended cab model with a six-foot bed and a crew cab with a six-foot bed.

The 2016 GMC Canyon interior will be roomy and very comfortable and also very harmonized with modern exterior design. This truck will be able to carry five adult passengers. The seats will be covered with high-quality brand materials to provide extra comfort for the driver and the passengers. It will be equipped with a lot of connectivity systems and modern accessories. There will be an 8-inch color touch display on the dashboard between air vents, along with some other hi-tech features on the dash. Everything can be conrolled via controls below the screen and also via the steering wheel-mounted buttons. The new GMC Canyon will be offerd in four trim levels: base, SL, SLE and SLT.
The GMC Canyon 2016 engines come with several options in offer.
The base model will be powered with a 2.5-liter Ecotec 4-cylinder engine with an output of 200 ponies and 191 pound-feet of torque.
The second one will be a 3.6-liter LFX V-6 engine with 305 hp and 269 pound-feet of torque. The model will also come with a diesel engine in offer. It will be a 2.8-liter Duramax turbodiesel engine with 200 hp and 360 pound-feet of torque, but it will be probably added to the lineup later in the production run. It could also come with a 4.3 V-6 EcoTec3 LV3 enigne with 285 hp and 305 lb-ft of torque. The new truck will come with both a 6-speed automatic, and 6-speed manual gearbox.
Price and release date
If you want a good truck with a great performance, it would be a right choice for you. The release date is still unknown, but it will probably be premiered at the beginning of the next year. The price tag is also unknown, but it could be expected around $20.000. Since the mid-size pickup segment has been shrinked for years in the U.S. the only direct main rivals to this car will be the Chevrolet Colorado, the Nissan Frontier and the Toyota Tacoma.
