The 2016 Ford Explorer is a full-size SUV prototype manufactured by Ford Motors. The SUV, which was first introduced in 1990, is said to be the most popular SUV available on the road. The 2016 Explorer will be the latest addition to the fifth generation of the much appraised SUVs.
2016 Ford Explorer Redesign, Exterior
The exterior has been beautifully sculpted with better curves and accents while the body kit is offered in 10 different paints. The LED headlamps have been upgraded to provide better illumination and better visibility. The front grille is a little narrower than before. At back, a rear spoiler and trapezoid shaped license plate has been added. The Explorer also features the all new handsfree-foot activated liftgate. With just a kick to the rear bumper, the liftgate will open automatically. The painted alloy wheels are 18 inches in size and embody all season P245/60 R18 tires; though the Platinum buyer will get bright faced dark painted pocket 20 inch wheels. The of wheelbase the new Explorer is 112.8 inches with the length of 198.3 inches and its width and height is 78.9 and 70.0 inches respectively.
The new Ford Explorer 2016 interior is very comfortable. At the rear are split-bench manual folding seats. The fronts are bucket seats, all made of very comfortable material. The cabin is able to seat 7 passengers. Explorer’s instrument panel is equipped with many features like Bluetooth connectivity, USB charging ports and a 6 speaker audio system. The MyFord touch and voice command system is also added which will enable the driver to perform many actions without having to get distracted by activating the screen manually. Other features are Cruise Control, a rear view 180 camera and Destination guidance systems.
2016 Ford Explorer Engine
New 2016 Explorer is offered a choice between 3 different engines presets, the standard being a 3.5 litre V6 DOHC engine with 6 speed auto shift transmission. This engine can produce up to 290 hp at 6500 rpm and a torque of 255lb.ft at 4000 rpm with a turning cycle of 38.9ft. The fuel tank capacity is 18.6 gallons with a recorded EPA of 17/24 mpg. The second will feature a 3.5 litre Eco-boost turbocharged direct injection V6 engine with 6 speed select-shift transmission. It is said to be the most powerful amongst all the Explorer’s engines and are a standard for Explorer Sport and Platinum models. The third will be a 2.3 litre Eco-boost engine featured with 4WD and Class II trailer tow. All the Explorer engines will be in front wheel drive format.
Release Date and Price
